Why Vision is Important for
Our Personal Growth

One of my favorite "vision" authors in the personal growth field is Dr. Wayne Dyer. For many years he has emphasized, You’ll See It When You Believe It. The whole idea is that we begin to experience life situations that reflect what we really believe on the subconscious level.

I readily identified with this idea years ago when I first read Dyer’s book. As I experienced more and grew in this idea, it became apparent that the converse is also true.

I’ve learned that what I see and hold my attention and thoughts upon works its way into my belief system. Once it becomes something I believe, then it works its way into my physical experience.

This is sort of a Personal Growth 101 idea. All the prominent teachers, both living today and honored from the past, have taught us the value of holding a vision in our mind’s eye. It seems as if the Universe doesn't’t really distinguish between a physically seen idea and an idea originating entirely from our imagination.

Use vision to create your desired outcome.

This supports the idea that we can virtually write our own ticket as to what we choose to believe. Take that to the next level and what we have chosen to believe shows up in our experience.

How simple and cool is that?

We get to choose what we want to see in our mind’s eye.

We can choose to observe what’s going on around us through…

…and then to believe that’s what our world will be like.

Guess what? Our world becomes just that because of what we choose to believe. After a time of believing what we’ve observed, the proof arrives in our everyday experiences just as we believed it would.

On the other hand, we could choose a different set of beliefs. Take your pick. There are many teachers who will show us the truth as they have found it.

Let’s say they see life as One-ness. They teach that feeling and concentrating on thoughts of love and well being will produce those same things in your life experience. They understand that the …

…unites us all and we are never separated from love and well being.

Here’s the point. What we see in our imagination – the thoughts we think over and over again, the ones we focus and concentrate upon – becomes our reality in time. So why don’t we choose better thoughts?

The simple key to our personal and spiritual growth is to understand we can choose our reality by consistently choosing what we think about most. This is not instant gratification. It doesn’t happen overnight.

It happens over time as we add these chosen thoughts to our beliefs. Once we’re clear on what we believe, then these beliefs begin showing up more frequently in our physical experience.

The vision is nourished and developed by conscious choice.

This can be a real stumbling block for many of us. We simply do not make a regular and consistent choice of what we will think about and where we will place our attention.

By not choosing consciously, we have chosen by default. This default leaves us very susceptible to the media or any other wind that blows thoughts our way.

We entertain some ideas of this and some of that, often producing confusion more than anything else. Lots of people experience this confusion as endless mind chatter.

It’s no wonder people are stressed out so frequently. It is too much noise with no central supporting belief system to filter the mix.

Ideas to help you create vision in your own life experience

  1. Choose beliefs that support what you desire. For example, you decide you want to live in a peaceful loving world. Therefore, you will focus on thoughts that affirm our world as a safe place to be.

  2. You will remind yourself that you are always protected and safe. You will see the good in others through your mind’s eye.

  3. Your vision will look for and focus on the love you see around you. As you focus on this love and think thoughts of safety, you will begin to see more and more of what you focus upon in your experience. That’s how it works!

  4. Take the time to go through your beliefs and determine which ones serve you. When you discover one that no longer works for you, replace it with a new one.

  5. The new belief can be chosen by you. As Dr. Dyer says in his latest book, Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life.

  6. Decide how you want the end result and create a vision that supports that exact result. Play the vision over and over in your mind. If a thought surfaces that doesn’t belong in the vision, delete it. I like to say, “Delete, delete” when that happens and then go right back to holding the thoughts of the vision.

  7. Do this regularly, frequently and consistently. In time, you will establish this vision as your belief. When you’ve accomplished this, your vision will then begin to show up in your physical experience…Guaranteed.

Vision is so important because it is the foundational building block for the reality you've chosen. Pay attention to your vision and your personal and spiritual growth toward your desire will be assured.
